yeah games like that have me as excited as the new titles...

The nice thing is with those they made they pretty cheap overall. between 5 to 10 dollars, and you know what you are getting. all the original mario bros, plus the japanese versions that were never released in the us.

Like I said before the actual games, I love playing Galaxy, and the mario kart is easy to set for people no matter what the level of ability somebody has is.

Softmodding a Wii is so easy a caveman can do it..Download some info to a SD card..=profit..Never pay for another wii game. No hardware crap or soldering. Anyone that plays their wii a lot should look into it.It's much simpler then the old soldering gun techniques of the ps2 days. Lemme know if anyone is interested.

even though the softmod method is easy... the solder method isn't too hard... its like 6 wires, and pretty large solder pts, unlike ps2... then the games load automatically...
not necessary to do... but i like to take things apart anyway

but i've bought a wii twice, sold the 1st and got a 360, 2nd kept it for a day, and realized i still didnt like it.

Yea,I just mean for people who don't like to take things apart ..I watched a friend of mind miscue with his soldering gun and lay a cake on his ps2 trying to mod it..He wasn't too happy

Just got a Wii from Costco with some xmas money.

What games do you guys own that you are still playing a year or two later? Would Mario Kart be a good selection?

Most of our games will be rented temporarily from Gamefly.
IMHO, the three best non-Nintendo IP on the Wii are ports off the GameCube or the PS2: Okami, Resident Evil 4, and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. If you've never played any of those, I'd recommend them on the Wii, as they were largely improved for their rebuilds. The best original titles on the Wii are probably Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, and No More Heroes.

Of Nintendos own IP, their best work is arguably in Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Bros Brawl. Personally, I think Mario Kart Wii is overrated and one of the worst efforts in the franchise, especially against the version that's on the DS.

On WiiWare, I'd suggest World of Goo, Mega Man 9, and Bomberman Blast.

Has anyone else messed around with making the PS3 a media server? I've been reading up on this, and it appears that you no longer have to install Linux as a second OS in order to file share with your PC. I'm not sure that you've ever HAD to do that, but that was my impression early on.

Windows Media Player 11 can recognize your PS3 and stream any WMP playable video to your PS3 via your home network. WMP 11 doesn't send HD content to the PS3 though.

PS3mediaserver is supposed to be a program installed on your PC, made specifically for sharing media with your ps3. It shows HD content, and is supposed to convert media like .mkv to a format that the ps3 will recognize.

Has anyone used either of these programs to stream media from your PC to your ps3? Thoughts?

Interesting... I might have to look at that eventually. I know for my son's baptism I used the photo slideshow on the PS3 and loved it. But I just uploaded the photos via a memory stick and then created the slideshow on my PS3 to show on my HDTV.

Skipping that step would save time and open up a ton of possibilities for stuff like that for future parties for my son.

But I don't have the technical know-how yet. Or the time to check into it. But I can see myself diving into that stuff when I sell my home and move into the new house.

I'm thinking of picking up a Wii for Tiger Woods, Tennis, and Baseball games...I think the interactivity would be amazing, and Tiger 10 sounds like there will be 27 courses!!!

I'd check around for some used ones. It appears the Wii is finally running out of steam. There are a glut of them on the shelves. This past month was the first time I have ever seen them on hand and unsold at every store I walked into. E.g., Target, WalMart, Meijer, Best Buy, etc ... I mean every single store had stacks of them available -- never seen that before.

Coincidentally, there was a tech article on Yahoo! a few days ago too that 50% of all software sold on Wii was either a Nintendo 1st party game or a copy of Guitar Hero. This is bad data for 3rd parties, so by extension it's bad for Nintendo too. The PS3 has outsold the Wii in Japan the last eight weeks in a row, which is a pretty big deal.

Point being: People may be just about Wii Sports/Wii Fitted out. Not everyone, but probably enough to amount to a huge dump of gently used consoles over this summer, which would warrant a price drop from Nintendo.

If I were on the market for a Wii, now is the time to wait. Deals will be coming.
