Yankees-Indians Blockbuster Trade Rumor

Brutus1: "I'm just not buying you're claim that this would be an even trade for Cleveland."

I never said ONCE that Cleveland WOULD, SHOULD, or WILL make this deal. I never said the Yankees WOULD, SHOULD, or COULD make this deal.

I merely reported what was written in a Seattle newspaper, and said that the Yankees were offering a big package for Sizemore. Period.

Why this causes morons like you to jump down my throat is beyond me. Perhaps stupidity? Perhaps inability to read? Perhaps you don't get enough attention at home & try to get it here? I dunno .. I can't answer that .. all I know is, that Santiago was set to leave the base at 0600.

I want the truth!!!

Shawn Chacon, huh?

Looks like the Evil Empire is pulling out all the stops now. :wink2:
He will actually do a helluva lot better than his stats show from the launching pad called Colorado. Plus in 12 starts, his team only put up 23 runs for him. Triple or quadruple that with the Yanks. Solid pickup IMO, for a hole in the lineup that needs patched.

Not so fast, my friend. Some pitchers have a Colorado hang-over & have to get used to pitching at sea level. Plus, he's been pitching in the N.L. and is not only going to the A.L., but to the Bronx, where National Leaguers get eaten alive.

I'm all for the Chacon move, but only because we didn't have anyone to pitch on Saturday. If he ends up doing well, I for one would be surprised.

Chacon's problem... thin air aside is that he's been tremendously inconsistent over his career...

Its a coin toss, I think... if he pitches as well as he has historically in first halves (as a starter)... you'll be fine... but.. he's prone to second half meltdowns... (Though the change of scenery may also play a factor... good or bad.) We'll see... there jsut isn't a consistent enough track record to say what he'll do.

Yeah, the hangover will last a bit. I remember Elarton's first start here in Cleveland and he was horrible. Now one year removed from Colorado he is doing alot better. Chacon will probable do decent as a 5th starter next year but this year he is more of a fill-in and pray he can give you 5-6 innings.

I highly doubt that Chacon would be anything more than a long-reliever/spot 5th Starter for the Yanks next year. And, he might be a free agent, I'm not sure.

The Yanks already have 5 starters locked in for next year: Johnson, Mussina (contract year), Pavano, Wright, & Wang.

He may love having a 3 run lead after a couple innings. He just needs to stop walking so many runners; nearly 5 per 9 innings, thats lousy. Maybe the thin air has something to do with that.

Did the Yanks actually take a flier on Nomo ? It seems to me I heard that on the radio today.

First his numbers we're actually not too bad for pitching there, and his record is reflected by who he played for. I think a little Bronx magic takes this guy to a better level. 100 times out of 100 would I rather have this guy pitch than Kevin Brown.

Yeah. They signed Nomo two days ago and sent him to Columbus.

They're desperate for starters. Look at the shape of the rotation right now:

Johnson (ok)
Mussina (ok)
Leiter (waiver pick-up)
Aaron Small (31 year old minor league emergency starter)
Chacon (to start Saturday)

Kevin Brown (DL)
Carl Pavano (DL)
Jaret Wright (DL)
Chien-Mien Wang (DL)
Hideo Nomo (Coulmbus)

They have FOUR starters on the DL right now.

Hopefully Wright is on his way OUT. Horrible pickup. Hated it from the beginning. Hoping we can get somebody on the free-agent market on the off-season.

I hope you're right. We've been burned by too many NL'ers recently for me to be optimistic about Chacon.

"100 times out of 100 would I rather have this guy pitch than Kevin Brown."

Kevin Brown is giving up a .390 OBP to lefties AND righties. Its pretty difficult to get worse than that, except for maybe Hideo Nomo.

"Hopefully Wright is on his way OUT. Horrible pickup. Hated it from the beginning. Hoping we can get somebody on the free-agent market on the off-season."

The thing that pissed me off about Wright is that he failed his physical AND THEY STILL SIGNED HIM!! If the guy was healthy, then I'm all for the pick-up .. but you knew he was damaged goods from the get-go. The Yankees scouts were drooling over this kid all last year, but once he can't pass a physical, its time to go to Plan B.

The Yanks aren't looking at any FA starters for next year. I would look into bringing Ted Lilly back, but other than him I don't think there's anyone out there who can help the Yanks. Unless they want to give A.J. Burnett big money and hope he pitches up to his stuff.

The Yanks ARE gonna make a big run at B.J. Ryan. They might pay him closer money to set-up for the Great Sandman.

Yea, but you probably loved Brown before he arrived. At the time, I was po'd that the Yanks got such a good pitcher. Of course, he was always getting hurt before he arrived.

Didn't he pitch well last year before he busted his hand on the wall/can/object ?
