UVa would possibly bring UNC as well.......assuming the respective state legislatures would agree ......which would require NCSU and VaTech to be taken care of by the SEC.

The only bummer would be the SEC also getting a foothold in Va and NC

Personally, I want 'em both, but my preference would be UVA.

The UNC angle is intredasting. I just wonder if they would be willing to leave Duke and NCST regardless of any legislative meddling.

My gut tells me that the VA legislature won't meddle in UVA leaving. I don't think VaTech will make a play to tag along and instead would look to jump to the SEC should the ACC totally implode.

As one who has been relentless in his criticism of Delaney over the last year or so, he really seems to have regained his testicular fortitude. This play has WIN written on it on so many levels. Not the least of which is the gigantic fuck you to the domers. So, you arrogant, treacherous, Mick fucks thought you found a safe haven in the ACC....now watch me blow that motherfucker all to hell.

Part of my fondness for BC--aside from the Boston tv market and the hockey program--would be the yanking of the domers' natural rival right out from under them.

You are right in that UVa is a much better academic fit. The question will be does Delany want that or the potential eyeballs that BC brings.

I'd rather have UConn than BC, if we're heading that direction. I'd rather have UConn than Rutgers for that matter.

The B1G going to 16 and picking up Rutgers, Maryland, Virginia, & North Carolina would be a gigantic coup; but I don't see it happening unless the ACC implodes. For the ACC to implode the SEC and Big XII would have to make a simultaneous grab of most of the other ACC schools, Something like:

Duke & Virginia Tech to SEC = 16
Fla State, Miami, Clemson, NC St, Georgia Tech & Wake Forest to Big XII = 16

Nope will never happen.

If they are really serious about the fifteen cents per cable subscriber and want an AAU school they should give consideration to GA Tech. It would give them access to the Atlanta media market and cable, easy flights in and out of ATL, a sometimes decent FB and BB team. And it makes in-roads to the south for recruiting much easier. And GA Tech cannot be happy about what is going on in the ACC right now with ND and the possibility of Clemson and FSU bolting.

I get Rutgers and MD for the reasons stated but culturally those two schools have very little in common with the Midwestern roots of the B1G.

Except for the whole contiguous states thing.
