'05 GA WR/DB Carlos Thomas (South Carolina signee)

This kid is supposed to be like a Terry Glenn as a receiver (makes all kinds of circus catches), and like a Charles Woodson as a cornerback (big play guy that can cover, tackle, and makes outstanding interceptions). He is also supposed to have over a 40 inch vertical leap. With that kind of speed, leaping ability, and catching ability, this kid could be another All-American wide receiver or corner for us, like Shawn Springs, Antoine Winfield, Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, and soon to be Ted Ginn.

Coach Tressel is all over this kid. I think we land him!

I am going to throw my 2 cents in here. I have seen Thomas play before and he is not very impressive. He has good speed and quickness but he just doesn't have good WR skills. He would probably make a better CB.

As far as Thomas leaning towards OSU and LSU, he has been all over the place this year. He has liked Georgia, Florida, GT and Clemson and has named all 4 of those teams as his favorites. Georgia started to fill up quickly and stopped showing him interest. I know Floirda stopped contacting him after they landed Morley and Atkins..I don't know if they have tried to get back in it since Morley went to UT. Now I guess he says LSU and OSU are his 2 favorites. They might be, but I advise a fan of any team to not consider him a lock until he signs.

We are pretty much recruiting him as a cb with the opurtunity to play O as well if he excells.

Also as far as him changing his mind well he is a young kid and young kids tend to do that quite often, I just hope that with there only being about a month left in recruiting that he doesnt bring anyone else into the picture, and Saban to the NFL would probably give him to us, but UGA is the hometown school so you never now.

Do you know if UGA has started to show more interest now towards the end of the recruiting season?

UGA probably won't go after him hard because of their lack of scholarships. They are very close to oversigning. All of the teams in the South seemed to of cooled on him recently. I don't know why. One rumor is grades. I know UF has really cooled on him for quite some time.

Can you imagine what these coaches and assistant coaches must be going through? Their jobs are on the line. High school seniors are asked to make very difficult life changing decisions.

Imagine if Ben Rothlisberger had gone to say...USC. He would still be on the bench, and probably undrafted after his senior year. How about RBs that signed at Oklahoma the last few years?

I don't like his last visit being with Spurrier at SC. The old ball coach can really blow some smoke when he has to. And SC is a lot closer to home for Carlos.

But he'd have to spend three to five years of his life in South Carolina! That's like a prison sentence. It would take an awful lot of smoke to convince me to do that, but hey, that's just me. Maybe Carlos likes sleepy little Southern towns.

I think we waited to long to get involved. Beating a dead horse

I started this thread in May and Thomas already had an offer. How is that waiting too long to get involved? Spurrier wasn't even named the South Carolina coach until after the regular season was over.
