'08 OH WR Cordale Scott (Illinois Signee; Transfer to Toledo)

If true good luck to him at Illinois. Couple of thoughts though:

This will really swell up the fans of Illinois that they are going to "steal" every recruit from Ohio.

It also really hits home how far Michigan has fallen in Ohio that right now our biggest thorn is Illinois.

There is no such report in the Columbus Dispatch, scout, rivals, etc. or any of the local newspapers affiliated with the University of Illinois, U-C. I think at this point it is fair to treat this piece of news as a rumor.

Neither the Dispatch nor the CPD seem to have anything about it. Please try to verify before posting. Provide a link.

See this post in the Ozone forums:

O-Zone: Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Glenville's Cordale Scott commits to Illinois

This provides verification for what I said. My previous post was, "Someone posted on the ozone forums that the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting the same in this morning's print edition, but not on its website." Probably not the most reliable source, but then again I never said it was, and I think we all know to take what is posted on message boards with a grain of salt. That aside, can anyone with access to the print edition of this morning's CPD verify?

Sorry, I still would have you waited until you saw the actual information and not what some poster said.

Anyways here on the bottom of the page there is a scan of the CPD article.

Glenville?s Scott commits to Illini
Thursday, December 20, 2007
Bob Fortuna
Plain Dealer Reporter

Glenville senior wide receiver/safety/kickoff returner Cordale Scott shocked the world late Wednesday with an oral commitment to the University of Illinois.

Scott, The Plain Dealer?s Defensive Player of the Year, chose the Fighting Illini over Ohio State. He made just two visits, to OSU two weekends ago and to Illinois last weekend.

?It was a very tough decision,? said Scott, rated the third-best senior in the November issue of Ohio High Magazine. ?I liked both campuses and the coaching staff at both schools, but my mom and I sat down and decided Illinois is the best place for me.?

Best of luck to Cordale!

I have already stated my sentiments about this one in the Rumor Mill, but I will congratulate Cordale here and wish him luck throughout his career. Can't say I'd agree that this is the best choice, obviously, but he though tit was so I'll back him on it.

surprised

If this info is correct, I am very surprised that Scott chose illinois because they are mostly a running offense. That means the WRs will not get as many opportunities. juice williams and his backup are noted for running as they are not very good at passing the ball even thought hey have gotten better but they will never be great only just adequate. I think that's where future frustration will come in when he's there and realizes that they can't get the ball to me like I want especially the deep ball. Benn catches nearly all his balls on crossing routes mostly - ever notice that?

Good Luck Cordale. I was a bit taken back to see he was ranked 3rd by OHM in November. He kinda "came across" as a plan b type of recruit. Maybe academics made it appear that way. I don't know, I just never felt there was a huge hype about him.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up at S, they may be telling him they are recruiting him as a WR to get him, but they are losing 3 of their top 4 safeties to graduation, and based on his '07 performance i think that is his best suited position (but i'm no expert).
