'12 MN OL Nick Davidson (Stanford Verbal)

Good news.

There is hope for a decent OL haul.

Before we hail Bollman for his prowess lets remember, he has "reeled in" a Boren, a kid 5 minutes away with no offeres from our recruiting co-horts, and possibly a prospect whose father was a captain at OSU.

Never-the-less. Let's keep this about Davidson.

A good prospect, better kid, at a positon of need.

I'm hopefully we can land him mainly because it appears Fickell is heavily involved in his recruitment.

If we can land Davidson and another pure T prospect (hopefully 1 of Dodson, Diamond, Kallis, perhaps Simmons), I will be satisfied.
The OL coach in 2012 will have some much needed bodies.

Kind Regards,
Diddy.

Bollman is in his 11th season. In that time these OSU OL have made a NFL roster Cordle, Mangold, Sims, Datish, Olivea, Clarke, Barton, Stepanovich, and Boone. That list doesn't even include Downing (personal reasons), Boren, and Browning. He potentially could have three more drafted in April 2012 and two more after that in Norwell and Hall.

I feel confident right now in stating that the following current buckeye O-Linemen will make an NFL roster at the very least.........

Mike Brewster
Mike Adams
J.B. Shugarts
Marcus Hall (I think he may leave after this season as 3rd year Soph)
Andrew Norwell
Jack Mewhort
Brian Bobek

And possibly.........

Cory Linsley
Micheal Bennett (I think he'll switch to OL)

I realize that some if that is a product of being 'OSU' but you have to credit Bollman for developing linemen for the most part. Mangold, Brewster, Adams, Barton, etc. all improved extremely well while at OSU.

in those 11 years how many OL have been drafted in the first 3 rounds?

Anyway lets get back to Davidson.

Would love to land him.

The remote possibility of having his Dad returning in 2012 as OC/OL coach is also intriquing.

The Sr Davidson is an accomplished coach. Has been an OC in The Show and has been in charge of some OL's that have opened holes for some barbaric run games.

Wad, can you expound on what Sept 1st has to do with price of tea in China?

Are there dead or silent recruiting periods in play?

Certainly we are not telling him that we need to wait on all the other T's to decide before we offer. Simply becuase we don't have many other offers out there and those that we have will not be deciding before 9/1.

That's the first date for "official offers" to seniors.

106-22 (.828) on the field since Bollman arrived at tOSU. Just think how good the Buckeyes would have been if they only had a few NFL-quality linemen.... :roll2:

Sept. 1st is when written offers can go out. Right now all we have to go on is that these kids or coaches reported saying that they were offered. Some kids interpret what coaches say differently and may think they do/don't have one as off today but the letter on the 1st will remove any doubt. I even assume that commits get letters on the 1st as well.

It's all relative. As bad as OSU o-linemen have been over the last 10 years, they've still been 14th of all colleges according to the linked metric (draft round). Yeah that's pathetic compared to other position groups at OSU (backhanded compliment) but that's hardly as bad as you would think.
