Braxton Miller vs. Devin Gardner (complete with hyperbole!!!!1!!1!)

SoCal is a blue-chip QB pipeline. Ohio is often headlined by guys like Hartline, Belton or Nicely. There are a handful of sleepers that emerge from ohio, but a 5-star QB is quite rare. California's fails to produce a great QB about as often as Ohio actually has one.

Using the Rivals state of Ohio rankings, the highest rated QB amongst all Ohio prospects by year was:

2010 - #8 Andrew Hendrix
2009 - #26 Patrick Nicely
2008 - #18 Ack Stoudt
2007 - #24 Clay Belton
2006 - #15 Rick Stanzi
2005 - #8 Rob Schoenhoft
2004 - #16 Brian Hoyer
2003 - #8 Brady Quinn
2002 - #3 Justin Zwick

That's not national ranking, that's state of Ohio ranking. Zwick was the #40 prospect in the country that year. So basically, if you think Braxton is a 5-star QB then you think he is the best QB prospect in at least the last 10 years.

A) Gardner is pretty damn good.

B) I have read them, and not once did I see anybody make the claim that Devin was the best QB or the best HS player to ever come out of Michigan EVER or in the past 25 years.

Duane Long, a guy that all of you guys actually look to, said on his blog that Braxton is the best HS football player he's ever seen in Ohio, EVER.

Have not seen that kind of fellatio on Gardner one time yet, and he's actually committed to Michigan.

WRONG

So because he said it we have to believe it? Maybe he hasn't seen all the greats play? Seriously, one guys opinion on another site leads you here to tell us to calm down, where all we do in his thread is post updates?

Can you admit that this was a "Braxton isn't as good as you say he is" discussion?

A) Gardner is pretty d*** good.
How's his passing? And how is your understanding of the rules of this forum?
Have not seen that kind of fellatio on Gardner one time yet,
Right, no heisman predictions, no better than pryor declarations, no hyperbole whatsoever. Keep clinging to that ridiculous notion that anything short of 'best player evar' is not hyperbole.

Keep doing what you and your namesake do best, talk a big game and dodge traffic... in your case, the topic at hand. You've now spent multiple pages gasping at the outrage of someone calling Miller the best QB ever in ohio, and yet you refuse to offer up any rebuttal of that point.

Repeat: Duane never said Braxton is the best HS football player he's even seen in Ohio. He said he was the best QB prospect ever in Ohio. Both the QB part and the "prospect" part are the key points that you are missing.

Have yet to see a supposed "HS recruiting guru" from Michigan make the claim that Gardner is "the best HS player from Michigan ever!" let alone a Michigan fan.

Michigan leaves the hyperbole to the "Terrelle runs a 4.33!" OSU crowd.
But Morgan :slappy: Trent running a 4.13 forty is not hyperbole.... :roll1:

Seriously, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't create a more perfect example of a Michigan Man than mh20.

Braxton has played a brutal schedule so far, but the kid is still putting up great numbers. Duane Long said he is the best player he has ever seen in Ohio. And he is only a junior.

180 YPG (140 passing, 40 rushing), 45% completion percentage, 8 TDs, 7 Turnovers.
For those with reading comp problems, the direct quote from Mr. Long :

Braxton Miller 6-2 185 QB Huber Heights Wayne (2011) The best quarterback prospect from Ohio in my lifetime.

So seriously how is this a really crazy stretch? Somebody please name the last supposed great QB that was a huge coming out of HS other than our buddy Mr. Zwick. I'll wait......... Its not really hyperbole its the sad state of QB's that we produce yearly.

ps - its on his old site not new one for those who want to play CSI and verify the statement. lol
