Celtics-Magic Second round series

Judgement day. I have to admit, what Boston has done without their big star and best defensive presence has been impressive and I think they win tonight setting up the big showdown with LBJ and company.

If it is the celtCRIPS, I like the Cavs in 6. If it's the Magic, I like the Cavs in 5.

The Cavs matchup sooooooooo much better with Boston than we do Orlando. Turkoglu and Lewis are really difficult match-ups for us.

I also don't like the idea of Z guarding Howard.

I'd much rather have Boston than Orlando.
I'd have to agree on the matchup, I also think we matchup better with Boston and we're more familiar with them, plus there'd be a little bit of the revenge factor for losing to them last year. I think we could get game 3 or 4 in Boston and they're not beating us at the Q so I think we'd be able to take the Celtics in five. There's nothing more I'd like to see than LeBron abuse Paul Pierce. Pierce has looked tired at times in the playoffs and his offense has been very inconsistent. He obviously has yet to face someone remotely close to what'd he'd face in defending LeBron which would only make him more inconsistent on the offensive end because he'd be using more energy on defense. Ray Allen frankly has stunk in this series against the Magic with JJ Redick guarding him, you have to wonder if he's starting to wear down a little. Delonte is a great defender so I can't imagine things would come any easier for him against the Cavs either.

That they do, and I think we'll learn a lot more about the Magic after tonight. Are they the mental midgets they have shown off and on throughout the playoffs, or are they finally going to show up and play to their potential in spite of their moronic coach.

Orlando presents matchup problems, but they also suck on defense...something LBJ, Mo, Z and company can exploit. If they face the Magic, the Cavs just have to play to their strengths. Howard will dominate, and will get his points and rebounds, but if you can stick on Turkoglu and Lewis and neutralize them, I think they can win easily. If you start doubling up Howard and letting Turkoglu and Lewis get their shots, that could present a problem.

The Celts don't necessarily present the matchup problems, but they are much more experienced, have much more moxie and are a rival. That scares me more than matchups.

Enjoy this moment Boston, savor every feeling in these seconds.

Soon, very soon... Its all going to come crashing down.

:roll1:

Plenty of us Celtics fans are surprised they are even still alive in these playoffs and have no delusions about their chances versus the Cavs this year.

Cleveland looks poised to add to their rich championship history while the lowly Celts will likely have to wait for another time to add that paltry 18th banner.

Maybe he's talking about losing tonight rather than getting to the Cavs.

Aren't they running out of space in the Garden for banners ? C'mon, let someone else have a chance to win one. It's pretty bad when the only banners the Cavs can hang from the rafters are the token 2nd or 3rd place in the division banners. Hell, they even have a banner hanging for winning the draft lottery, that's how pathetic their existence has been. I remember being pumped when they finish over .500.

Rondo, Pierce and Ray Allen would disagree.

It's hard to tell Ray Allen and Eddie House apart lately. They are both difficult to guard when they get hot, but that only happens every 4 games or so. And when Ray Allen is cold, the team loses steam because they rely on him.

Rondo can't make an outside jumper, which despite his numbers, has been HUGE liability. He's been terrific taking the ball to the basket and, for a guard, is an outstanding rebounder. But he's still 3-4 years away from hoping to become the kind of player Jason Kidd used to be... and without a jumper, that's his ceiling (and not a bad ceiling to have I might add).

Someone tell Paul Pierce to show up for more than 2 minute bursts in this series. If he can put together a complete game, I'll give the Celtics a chance against the Magic tonight. But they need Ray Allen's corpse to be dug up first.

Yup, the same one is is averaging close to a triple double during the playoff's and has stepped up to be one of the top point guards in the NBA.

List of point guards I would take over Rondo:

1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. Chauncey Billups
4. Devin Harris
5. Tony Parker
6. Derrick Rose
7. Mo Williams

For at least the first 5 on that list, Rondo shouldn't even be in the same discussion.

And the other interesting problem if Rondo is truly elevated to that status: How "great" are Pierce and Allen if they can't steamroll the Bulls and Magic with one of the best point guards in the game???
