Do you think that ESPN might want to come to Columbus for the Texas game?

ESPN is surely giving OSU a raw deal, but do you really want to turn down all that exposure and cash? By the Texas game, ESPN will have moved on, Tressel will still be coaching, and this BS will have blown over. Don't you guys want maximum exposure for your program, especially if you beat the team that just beat us?

There is no additional cash for the university for allowing gameday on campus. It would actually cost the university money to provide additional security. I did not realize the Buckeyes needed more exposure for the program. Isn't this enough to satisy you? Why in the world should the university give Clarett and his ESPN puppets another stage to further denigrate the university?

SCREW ESPiN!!!!!!!!!!!!

The heck with them - I think they should be banned from campus for awhile - TV or no TV - I'd rather listen on the radio to Keels than give these a-holes anymore money or time.

I agree that you're overexposed now, but will you be in 9 months? That game could very well be the start of a national championship run for the winner.
the national championship isnt aided by having gameday at your house. none of us think this will blow over by the Texas game. There arent really any benefits of having gameday at the game, Texas vs. OSU will be a big enough story that can get its own exposure.

we just dont want those assholes in columbus anymore. They dont deserve to be there.

I'd think the Gameday hosts profit indirectly. Sure, security is an immediate cost, but being on Gameday primes alumni for donations and such.

For the record, I expect and hope OSU's troubles are confined to Smith and Clarett. If Gameday were tomorrow, I'd say hell no OSU shouldn't let ESPN on campus. The game is in 9 months; things will be different.

Mile,

I don't think I am breaking any new news to you by saying we all know how "intense" some of our fans can be. This will not be forgotten, given the amount of alchohol involved it might also not be safe for the gameday crew. Holbrook has to decide if taking the chance of a riot and tons more bad pub is worth it, personally I can't see anything good coming from it, at all. I don't see the idiot fans letting the water go under the bridge and acting like civilized people on the GD set, IMO it just won't happen.

Since when did the presence of ESPN gameday become necessary for obtaining alumni donations? If anything, I would worry that donations would decrease with all of this great exposure. WHo said anything about additional troubles? Clarett's ESPN talking puppets, Trev and especially May, would only be more encouraged to bash OSU with gameday here in Columbus just as they did prior to the Alamo Bowl. Of course that is exactly what you would love to see.

The game doesn't need any additional hype. The viewership will be there with or without gameday.
Ask Auburn if the media doesn't effect a college football team's season. What if Oklahoma, USC, and OSU are undefeated at the end of next year? With U of M as another potential contender, I want all the exposure we can get, especially considering our weak nonconference schedule.

That's fair. Perhaps, given my personal dismissal of all these allegations, I'm underestimating their effect.

have you seen the BCS the last 2 years? if it comes down to USC, OU, and OSU......USC and OU will get the nod regardless of how many gamedays we have

if there was another undefeated team in 2002 we wouldnt have gotten the shot either. gameday doesnt have as much as an effect as you think it does.

At the moment, I agree. Again, I'm anticipating the climate around ESPN and OSU to be much improved in 9 months. My point was not the OSU has any trouble soliciting donations, but that Gameday exposure can only get more.

I root for Michigan first and the Big Ten second. While OSU's national championship was admittedly bittersweet, I want your program to be healthy. I just want you to lose one game a year.
