Yeah, it's annoying at first, especially if you're running on the harder difficulty. If you're on normal, however, and if you keep the horse directly in front of you when you begin to target, it should automatically target the neck for you. I haven't tried roping one on the harder mode yet, maybe you can slow it down with Dead Eye and lasso it, I dunno. I've started the game over 3 times now because of a preorder bug, so I've gotten pretty good at taming horses and lassoing bounties

Lassoing isn't the hardest part. I got that down pat. But it is getting down from your current horse and getting to the lasso'd horse that is damn near impossible for me. Seems like the lasso comes undone every time and the horse gets away before I can mount it.

Hmmm, you play on PS3? After I lasso the horse I try to keep holding on the L2 key to keep him lasso'd. I usually wait 10 seconds or so for him to calm down while I move my horse close to him. I then jump off, still holding on L2, and begin to break the wild stallion. Try to give him as little time as possible to jump/buck once you get off your horse, otherwise he may knock you back.

I personally disagree with the assesment that "Single player is good/Multiplayer is garbage."

Singleplayer is fantastic, and if you play with friends the multiplayer is great as well. A lot of guys are douches, sure, but when you do missions with friends its a ton of fun, and if anyone messes with you then gang up and kill him.

All around great game, R* was able to take a borderline 'tired' game style (GTA), adapt it to the Wild West and make it feel fresh and new.

I'm still in Mexico, been catching up on Challenges. I hate picking the flowers, but the Survivalist maps make it easy to complete. The Treasure Chests are frustrating at times, but they're fun once you find them. It was so nice getting through Rank 5 on Treasure Hunter, I take free carriage rides anywhere I go now. I'm currently maxed out on Sharpshooter and Hunter challenges until I get to the last area, wish there was a way to unlock it sooner. I really wanted to sneak over there and tame the really fast black horse.

Word is out that people have been attacked by this creature in Tall Trees forrest. It's extremely fast, and it takes more than a few shots to bring it down. Use your own judgement, or skeptism, as no one has been able to get a video of it:

Some say werewolf, some say Chupakabrah, others say it's a bear with the mange, and still others say it's the "Bigfoot" from San Andreas. Posses are forming to hunt it down, however.

In unrelated news, last night I found a glitch that allows you to get early access to West Elizabeth, which would allow you to buy some of the best guns in the game early, tame the very fast all-black American Standardbred, get access to expensive bounties early, and go bear hunting. I posted it in the cheats section of GameFAQs, not sure if it's up yet though.

When you play poker, the other players will talk about that creature as a huge mountain lion.

I don't know how far along he is - but I had a friend mention he got his character black out drunk and had him hijacked a train!

If you rob or kill someone - do you get "stars" like in the GTA games? Will people come after you?

Yep, pretty much exactly the same.

edit: I should mention that you get a bounty put on your head for any crime you commit. So you can flee the cops, but they'll try to get you again if they see you back in town and you haven't paid of your bounty.
