Value City Arena (official thread)

I currently sit in section 131, and I think you are referring to the slope of the seats. As far as I'm aware both end sections are identical and both are sloped. The difference between these 2 sections and the rest of the stadium is each row of seats only has 1 step between them while most of the stadium has 2 steps per row. This means there is only a 3-4" difference in height per row of seats instead of 7-8". The last 10 rows or so of the section are permanent seating on concrete and have the normal slope.

The seats can suck, if you are short, have kids, or a really tall person in front of you. That's one of the reasons the students didn't make as much noise when they were on the ends, half of them couldn't see the game.

One good thing about this section is it seems to be mostly faculty and staff and they sit for most of the game. This should allow you to see most of the court without an obstructed view aside from the stanchion for the hoop.

Only somewhat relevant to the Schott, but since this has been the thread for complaining about the atmosphere at the games....

The trivia question on Wednesday night was....

"How many Buckeyes have won the Heisman Trophy?"
A. 5
B. 7
C. 11

The guy answered "A" and won.

Good catch, these kinds of things are frustrating.:(
The problem is not with the answer, by math logic only answer C. is disqualified.
If the question would have asked,
"What is the total number of Buckeyes who have won the Heisman?"
then the only correct answer would be 7.

wouldn't it technically be 6? 7 Heisman trophies but 6 different players

I figured they were just recycling old questions.....like pre-2006 old questions.

Yikes.

And the question should always be asked in the form of "How many Heisman Trophies have been won by Buckeyes?", so the answer is the full number of trophies won, rather than just counting Archie once. Why should tOSU not state that they've won 7 trophies, the same as ND, and one more than USC since Reggie Bush's has been vacated (the Heisman site just skips from 2004 to 2006 now).

Quick question: Do box suites have open bars?

The one we were in for a game last year had a stocked mini fridge. We ran through the beer supply halfway through the 2nd half, so we bought more from the concession stand. So if you're asking if there is free beer in there, the answer is yes. I'm pretty sure they stock it with whatever food/beverages the person with the rights to the box requests (or maybe they buy it themselves). If you mean "unlimited," no. At least not in my experience. I was a guest who felt very fortunate to be there, so I didn't exactly feel it would be appropriate to find the guy who had the suite and say "Hey man what do we have to do to get some more beer in this place?"

Ohio State to get new floor at Value City Arena

The Ohio State basketball teams will have a late present waiting for them when they return to the hardwood following the winter holiday. According to The Columbus Dispatch?s Bob Baptist, Value City Arena is getting a new floor that will be ready after Christmas. The design rivals that of Illinois?, particularly the school logo at midcourt superimposed over an outline of the state of Ohio.

Ohio State fans should enjoy this new feature, because it was a staple at St. John Arena. No, it?s not the same logo as the one in the old gym, but it?s a modern nod to it.

Other than that, the free-throw lanes, like the state outline at midcourt, will be stained darker, the ?B1G? logo will be added below each free-throw line, and a Buckeye logo will sit at each corner of the court.
