It's actually Three-Buck Chuck here. Never tried it, but last night at Trader Joe's almost everyone had at least one bottle of it in their hands. It must be decent or else people just like shitty wine.
actually, within about ten years or so, virtually all new wines will come with screw tops... yes, this takes away a lot of the romance and mystique involved with opening a bottle, but the simple truth is that natural cork is too inconsistant and has impurities, and synthetic corks are garbage... personally, i am not fond of this move to screw tops, but sometimes technology dictates a move away from longstanding traditions...my policy is no boxes, and no screw off tops
no, not one bit... the whole movie was a joke, making fun of people's uppity attitudes when dealing with wine, especially the connesseurs, aka wine snobs.I wonder if that movie hurt the merlot industry. :)

everyone noticed when he was talking shit about Merlot, but not as many people noticed that when they first met Sandra Oh's character, he really went out of his way to trash the Cabernet Franc that she poured for them, and that he dogged all Cabernet Francs in general...
the point? the prized wine in his collection, the 1962 Chateau Whatever-it-was, was made from MERLOT and CABERNET FRANC...
so, all this time, his most prized possession was entirely comprised of the two grapes that he showed the most vehement disdain for... Sideways is really a great portrait of irony... although, it's still quite a funny movie even if you missed the very subtle inside joke...
prett cool huh? makes me wanna watch it again.
since we're on the subject, i know it costs a few bucks more, but you should maybe also check out Folie a Deux, Menage a Trois from Cali... it's a blend of three varietals (go figure) Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel and is very nice; with smooth, velvety mouthfeel, luscious ripe berry fruits, and a lingering, chocolaty finish...
(can you tell i work in the industry? :p )
