Football was my best sport. I started playing tackle in 5th grade. I loved it. But I was like you being forced to play baseball. I started fast pitch in like 3rd grade. My old man wanted me to play; an extension of what he couldn't do. He had a try out with the Twins back in the day, and on a rainy day, he slipped in the outfield and screwed up his back. He was never the same since. So ever since I can remember, baseball was drilled into my head, and I played up through my sophomore year of high school, then I moved onto track, shot and discus. My dad ruined the game for me. When your dad is the coach of your little league team for your entire life, and he's at every baseball game in high school, you get tired of it real fast. I hate playing, and will never force my sons into playing anything they don't want to play.
i ruined the game for myself. i never told anyone that i didnt like it. my desire to win shown through any dislike. after that season i sat my parents down and they told me i should have told them earlier. no one to blame here but me. life lesson about voicing your thoughts, i went off something that i was told a couple of times until i was little.

that being said the only little regret i have is what happened to my friends/teammates, who knows what would of happened had i continued to played. but thats spilt milk and water under the bridge...

Tennis, but I never loved the sport. Played soccer nearly year round (w/ a lil bball & beach vball thrown in), and joined the tennis team in the spring as a diversion. Finally focused on it my senior year, and ended up playing in college for two years for a good NAIA program (at least, until I arrived ). Played for two years, but ended up walking away. I didn't love the sport enough to play two seasons a year (our reg season was opposite everyone elses, so we had another season in the spring to prepare for the playoffs). Tennis isn't in my top-5 of favorite sports.

Polar opposite for me. Dad was totally uninvolved in my sports (despite having lettered in the big 3 in high school), and basketball was a diversion from home stress. One of my most painful memories growing up was on family night as a sophomore...walking out onto the court before the game and being introduced to the entire home crowd. Alone. I'm over it, but no kid should have to go through that.

I used to play tennis everyday for a minimum of three hours. At about 17 I got burnt out from playing. To this day I have on desire to play. I randomly get dragged out to play, but dislike it. Parents supported my decision but were pissed off.

But didn't you ultimately find your niche?

Yeah. I'm a bit more of a couch potato these days.

Baseball with Football a close second.

The only thing holding me back was my lack of speed.
My little leauge coach once said about me...

"He could hit the ball a mile, but when he ran the bases, it was like he was pulling two semi trailers behind him."

No Hockey in the poll? What the fuck Thumpsters? Remind me to cross check you if I ever see you.

Hey, I mentioned some sports in the poll that my league didn't even have so cut me some slack.

How many HS hockey programs are there outside of Cleveland?
