West Virginia Takes Top Spot,
Ohio State 2nd In CCR Top 119
[SIZE=-1]by CFP Staff
November 25, 2007

The No. 5, 10 and 30 teams at the start of the season are now ranked No. 1, 2 and 3.

West Virginia claimed the top spot of the CCR Top 119 (Congrove Computer Rankings) after a Thanksgiving Day weekend that saw the computer's top two teams both lose. Kansas topped the chart last week, but fell 36-28 to Missouri to end its run at an undefeated season.
LSU was ranked 2nd going into the holiday, but the Tigers lost 50-48 in triple-overtime to Arkansas.

I want the Bucls in the BCs for the simple reason of playing someone on a neutral site. USC in the Rose Bowl is not neutral and 16,000 seats out a stadium of 100,000 isn't parity.

As for WVU: Rutgers, South Florida, Cincinnati, Syracuse hardly sounds like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois... this may be a down year in the Big 10, but that's still a much more impressive line up than the Big East has to offer... somehting I hope the bowls will prove.

some notes on this weeks polls:
in usa the difference between 1-3 in this weeks poll is smaller than last week

and in ap(which i know doesnt matter) missouri is num 1 and wvu is 2 with osu 3 and that difference also got a bit smaller.

So the whole idea of a beauty pagent champ game cannot be ruled out.

edit: 60 coaches vote in the usa poll
7 big ten coaches vote in the usa poll - tressell, carr, dantonio, tiller, lynch, bielema, and zook.
I havent checked for sure but there are at least 10-12 other coaches with ties to tressell/ohio state who could vote because of their heart
willingham and weis vote
we could get some love from these coaches maybe from others who hate wvu and or missouri but youd have to think the coaches in the big east and in the big 12 (including stoops) would vote for their conference.

coach breakdown per conference:
acc-6
b10-7
beast-4
b12-6
sec-7
pac-5
wac-4
mac-6
sun-4
mwc-4
indy-1
cusa-6

the coaches poll hurts us this week. WVU is #1. of course if Oklahoma takes care of business that point is moot. if the Sooners don't, then i'm not going to cry. that Missouri team i watched last night was pretty freaking good...

and i'm not sure about the "vastly overrated" comments regarding Kansas. they essentially lost by 6. they missed two FGs in the first half and had a turnover in Missouri's red zone. they played toe-to-toe with the Tigers, but mistakes proved too costly...

Mizzou imposed it's will last night - holding Kansas to 42 yards rushing.
That was one statistic that displayed Mizzou's imposition of will, to be the bigger bully in the schoolyard.

The other?

The penalty count. From which tally of 14 penalties (and 141 yards given up) they gave up 4 1st downs to the Jayhawks. In other words Mizzou was willing to play very fast and loose, as long as they got the result they wanted.

One has to question whether Oklahoma provides a similar punching bag for the style of play Mizzou adopted last night. My belief is that if Mizzou tries that high risk physical style of Defense against Oklahoma they get eaten up by a better passing, better blocking and better balanced team.

Part of Mizzu's problem is going to be the pressure. I suppose they could go with the "We've got nothing to loose" attitude, but I gotta think that that would ring pretty hallow considering what's on the line. OU, of course, has "been there" and should be the more calm team come kick.

Missouri has enough firepower to beat OU, for sure. I just think the pressure factor makes em play tight. We'll see....

Who would OSU face in the BCS game if OU wins against Mizzou and Pitt beats WVU (I know there is almost no chance of Pitt winning) Would UGA make it to the game if they finish 3rd in the SEC? Va Tech? just curious of thoughts
