OL Brian Bobek (Iowa St grad transfer from Minnesota)

While I'm sure it's flattering to get an offer from OSU, one thing to consider is OSU will always have their pick of the litter when it comes to recruiting. I have not checked out their roster, but I'm sure they've got more than a handfull of 4 and 5 star OL who are all more than qualified to play big ten football. Signing with OSU might be a ticket to the NFL, but only if you get to see the field. It also might be a ticket to a long time riding the pine and seeing top notch OL recruited each and every year who may surpass you.

Funny how other people perceive our recruiting of offensive linemen and how our fan base sees it.

Back on topic, obviously this will be a critical year for power recruits on both sides of the ball. My perception is that the staff isn't going to be left at the altar this year. Bobek sounds like a great prospect, but I'd keep a close eye on the Hawkeyes throughout this recruitment.

From the horse's [father's] mouth...

Brian is stronger and more powerful than many, if not most, D-1 O-linemen. Benches 430, squats 550, cleans 300+, vert jump 32", broad jump 9 ft. and he doesn't turn 17 until spring.

Unreal for a 16 year old...

It would be fine if there are more options to consider, but we're happy that the school that has won the last 5 Big Ten championships wants Brian.

Seems like our staff has really taken an initiative this year on recruiting. I've only been following recruiting for about 3-4 years now but I don't recall a time when our staff was sitting this pretty with as many great recruits around the midwest as we are now. Love it. Bobek sounds like a freak athlete, just the type of kid we need.

1. Fremd center Brian Bobek has been offered by Ohio State. That is a major catch for the youngster. I don't know that he had any other offers up to then. He and his father made unofficial visits to Purdue and Ohio State. After Ohio State coaches reviewed Bobek's tape, they offered a scholarship immediately.

Very interesting that Iowa isn't getting involved here...

Well, there can only be three reasons why:
1) They already have targeted, what they believe are better players, or better players in their particular scheme.
2) They know something that the OSU coaches don't know.
3) They are making a big mistake.

Let's hope it's the later of the three..
