I'm sure it is. Just come back to the planet dude, buckeyes are forgiving of past sins.

I don't think that is a repiarable relationship...

I watched the videos of Joe from Rivals and I think this is an EXCELLENT pick-up for this team (if it does work out like is expected)... Strong arm, good mobility, and now he will have the couple of years extra maturity that benefits the QB position... Due to the adjustment, I wouldn't expect him to come in and challenge for the job this year, but look out next year...

Gents...has anyone heard the good word as whether Bauserman @ OSU will come to fruition?

Would the limited scholly situation in 2008 impact Joe's admittance? I like the comparisons to Chris Weinke I have heard. Florida State Heisman winning 26 year-old Chris Weinke, not Carolina Panther lifetime 35 year old backup Chris Weinke...

We'll know in a couple weeks when spring football starts. Quick glance at the WHOIS directory at the OSU website shows his name but no e-mail listed (and they list the OSU account of every student). Thus, he wasn't enrolled in the winter.

he is supposedly in school and won't take up a scholarship (baseball pays for it)

Can't be done that way. A schollie counts against football if he plays at all. Its set up that way so a school can't load up an extra 10-15 guys and call them wrestlers, baseball players, divers etc.

The reference is to the Pirates paying for his school. No different than the deals Cedric Benson, Ricky Williams, or Quan Cosby entered into at Texas. Bauserman will be considered a walk-on for all intents and purposes (i.e. he won't be allowed at the training food table) but the Pirates will pay and he won't take up a scholarship.

Gotcha. Not sure what I was thinking, not like he would be eligible to play NCAA baseball after a pro career anyway.:!

Thanks Paisano.......wasn't sure how Bauserman was going to be able to play baseball.......until I realized this was a football thread. He should be able to play football, with four years of eligibility, but NOT baseball, as he was a professional in that sport. If the Pirates pay for his schooling, then it's no different than getting a Rotary scholarship (that pays for everything or whatever it pays for).

I would like some more info on this in terms of being a walk-on (I see that), not being part of training table (if he's on the team, why not?), how about study tables, tutors, preferred housing, other things that athletes enjoy. I'm a bit confused, but if he's denied this, then my sympathy goes waaaaay up for the many walk-ons that do the practices, and then pay their own way, and are denied any extra benefit, when they put out as much as the schollie people........thanks for clearing away the fog.....

From some email buzz:

Meeting Last Night
Bauserman was not at the team meeting last night, but players were talking about him, and wondering when he was coming. Not sure what this all means, but sounds like he will be with the team shortly.

Coach Hazel said he was the real deal, which is pretty high praise coming from a coach who doesnt usually say that type of stuff.

I don't get it. Why would the Pirates pay for him to go to college? It's not like he can play baseball at Ohio State and practice and re-join the Pirates later.
