Gronkowski Gets Taste Of Clemson Gameday

Clemson's number one target at TE Rob Gronkowski (6-6 250) of Pittsburgh made an unofficial visit to the school for the Maryland game. That was his second time on campus. He attended camp there last summer. "It was very nice, I liked it," Gronkowski said. "I liked the atmosphere. I talked to coach Napier and Bowden." Gronkowski has made an official visit to Syracuse and plans to set other visits with Clemson, Arizona and Ohio State. Maryland, where his two brothers play, also is a factor. He said he does not have a favorite.

He basically said it, but it has also been my thought that we will see how his recruitment shakes out after this weekend by how the visit goes and how the staff follows up after the visit.

Senior film.
My take: Rob has put on some serious size. He looks like he can play either TE or even DE at the next level. These clips are all of Rob playing DE, where he shows a decent first step and the abillity to shed blockers quickly and get upfield. Probably needs to continue to develop his strength. Has a good motor and is constantly disrupting things in the backfield.

He has set his official visit to Ohio State for the following Wednesday. He has visited Syracuse and he said hie might visit Arizona in January. Gronkowski is also considering Maryland but won't make an official visit there because he's already very familiar with the school. Gronkowski made an unofficial visit to Clemson November 4th. He does not have a favorite. Coaches from Ohio State, Syracuse and Arizona have been in this week. Clemson recruiter Billy Napier and Maryland's recruiter are due in Thusday.

Too soon old, too late smart
After he visits U of Arizona in January (early - say around the 8th?) can he come into Glendale on the 8th for an 'unofficial' for the NC game? As a guest of the Buckeyes? I seem to recollect that OSU had some recruits for the NC game against Miami - which were from Florida........
Don't believe that school can pay for transportation for an unofficial visit, but if they were there already.......
