The story would be over if not for the media. The pitcher, coach and team have all moved on. the ump has said I fucked up, and owned that mistake.

The media needs to let it go, and anyone who is still pissed needs to let it go. I'm sure that id half of these mouth breathers that are still pissed had a camera and slow motion on them at their jobs we would see much worse things happen.

My opinion is that the call should be overturned. This is the only situation where I think you could do that- 2 outs in the 9th inning means that calling Donald out ends the game there. The kid pitched a perfect game, and that should be reflected in MLB history.

All that being said, I absolutely love the class that this is being handled with by everyone. Leyland, Galaraga, and Joyce should all be commended for the class that they have shown in dealing with this situation. Its so rare in this day and age to see players act like Galaraga is, and kudos to Leyland for backing him up on that.

My thoughts as well.

A good official calls what he sees, not what he wants.

that's why.

What he saw was a play that was very close. In that situation you give the benefit of the doubt to the pitcher. He earned it. I'm not saying you call him out no matter what.

If you are saying that good officials don't skew close calls depending on the situation, then there are no good officials. IMO, it's no different that swallowing your whistle late in a big game when there is a touch foul.

To put this in context, Galarraga brought out the lineup card to Joyce, who's behind the plate today.

Joyce has handled his mistake very well, owning up to it, and Galarraga has shown a tremendous amount of class.

I am saying good officials should not skew close calls depending on the situation. There may not be any good officials, I don't know. I do know they should always call what they see. No exceptions.
