To say we have no control over what players do is bullshit!!!!

...

Technically I was in Tressel shoes in weird kinda way. I was a platoon Sgt. in charge of 96 men. Every time one of them got into trouble I got my ass chewed because they expected me to know who, what, where, when, why, and how about everyone of my Marines.

...

Our staff yneeds to grow some balls and put a foot up some players asses and that will get their attention. This wishy washy bullshit obviously isn't working.

Did you know what those troops did during the time between their oath of enlistment (signing the LOI) and their entrance into basic training (entering the university)? Hell no, you didn't...nor should you be held responsible for their actions during that timeframe. Besides, there's a huge difference between the conduct and the requirements of discipline for a platoon of United State Marines and those of a bunch of football players, regardless of university.

If Dukes did what he did prior to his setting foot on campus soil, then just how is the football staff responsible for his actions?

I agree, if this took place before he stepped foot on campus you can't blame JT for this at all. I don't think you could blame him even if it did happen on campus. Having sex with a minor is a boneheaded move but when you're 18 and you got some hottie that's 16 wanting you, and you don't know she's 16, you can't tell me that alot of guys wouldn't have sex with her.

Anyone remember the El Roberson fiasco a few days prior to the Fiesta Bowl? Turned out the charges of sexual assault were bogus, and those charges were for actions while El was an actual student at KSU, not prior to his enrolling in the university.

Why don't we all take a fickin' chill pill until all this shit comes out in the wash.

Whoa. Let’s hold up a minute and put the rope back in the closet until after the trial. If this kid is guilty of a crime, there is time (and plenty of space over on BN) for recriminations and hand wringing for those so inclined.

I sympathize with the anger and frustration many feel from recent events involving Buckeye football, but some of you guys really need to find a new medication. At the least blow into a paper bag a few times and review the coastalbuck and ironton posts again. They are rational and to the point. And they place this recent development in proper context such as the notion of “innocent until proven guilty,” and that the alleged misconduct apparently occurred well before Dukes attended Ohio State– almost certainly without knowledge of it within the athletic department.

“Salivating is probably the wrong word to use given Dukes' current predicament.” –tibor75–

Wryness aside, tibor, I think “salivating” is not that hard to swallow in referencing OSU football recruiting. Actually most of the relevant salivating, bed wetting, and nocturnal emissions I noticed came on Bucknuts, so to speak.

Where is the information coming from that states that this took place in the summer?

Im with you on this.
All I see is an arrest date for 12/21/2004, that was just Monday.
So whose to say the crime/arrest did not take place the same day?
Hopefully its all a misunderstanding and he did nothing wrong,
I was really looking forward to this kid solidifying our WR corps next year.

The problem is with the history and reputation that Tressel and Geiger are building at OSU and with all the issues players are deemed guilty until proven innoncent and even then it is back papers. All I am saying is I don't want to see anymore posts with regards to Michigan, Miami, or USC running renegade programs until we get our house more in order...

What "history and reputation" that Tressel and Geiger are "building"? Would you be characterizing Cooper in the same light if he were still the coach and Clarett did the same shit? Clarett is the psycho, not Tressel or Geiger, so don't blame them for his actions. As for the Dukes situation, no one here knows jack shit about what happened yet other than the original arrest report. We don't know if this is all bullshit charges, a misunderstanding, or a real crime. My point with the Robderson incident is that the media and fans went off the deep end when the story broke, only to find out there was no real crime committed.

This incident could not have happened in the same day. The second charge is that of a warrant arrest, meaning that a complaint was filed and the county prosecuter had seen a judge to have a warrant issued. This all takes time. The top charge is what they will charge a MINOR with for having sex with another MINOR. He was under 18 and so was she.

Yes. This incident has nothing to do with Clarrett. Clarrett lit the fire there is no doubt but the flame is not able to die down with LI, Guilford, Smith, and maybe Dukes. By the way we are on the same side, Dukes can not be included in the list of guilty players until more is known but we both know that ESPN will not care how much evidence they have and OSU will continue to be smeared.
